Nevada Desert Experience Sacred Peace Walk 2011
NDE's 63-mile, annual pilgrimage to the Nevada National Security Site (the NNSS, formerly called the Nevada Test Site) begins on April 18 with an orientation in Las Vegas and preparation for our six-day walk starting on April 19, 2011. For complete information go to http://nevadadesertexperience.org/ and see events in upper right hand corner.
Each year since the late 1980’s Nevada Desert Experience has hosted a pilgrimage, usually a 5 day walk from Las Vegas Nevada to the Nevada Test Site to bring attention to and eliminate nuclear weapons. It is a 63 mile walk on highway 95 through the desert, an occasion of reflection and a song of wind, sand, sun and wide open spaces, sometimes harsh but so very beautiful. Folks are invited to walk for the distance they are comfortable and capable of doing safely. There are support vehicles.
The desert is beautiful and since Easter is in late April this year, it will be a splendid time to walk.

Some camp along the way
and fully experience the
beauty and quiet of
the starry desert night sky.
Dinner is prepared and brought
to the hungry walkers.
We stop at the Temple of Goddess of Spirituality
dedicated to the Goddess Sekhmet, in Cactus Springs, Nevada.
The vistas are lovely and the Goddess Temple is a very special and wonderful place to visit and camp.

At the line.
Last year some participants wailed or keened for our Mother Earth.
It was a transformative experience.
We plan to do this again.
One Easter Jesus came and
crossed the line.
Jesus was arrested.
Civil disobedience
In warm embrace, sharing a kiss, walking arm in arm to jail, we are in love with life. We are volunteers, willing to be arrested, for our children’s future and to save our planet.
This is the most bombed out place on the face of the earth with over 1000 nuclear explosions detonated here. What better place to work for the healing of the planet, for our children’s future and healing our warriors. Please come and join us for a remarkable and transformative experience.
Your are invited to join with us this April 2011 and walk all of or some of the pilgrimage. Civil disobedience is optional and witnesses are very important.
Nuclear disarmament is very important to Veterans For Peace and the entire world! Please join us!
